Band Set List Live ("the App") is operated by Band Set List Live ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and web service.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name
- Password (encrypted and managed by Firebase Authentication)
Band and Music Data
When you use the App, you may provide:
- Band name and member information (names and roles)
- Song details (title, artist, key, BPM, tuning, genre, mood, and other musical metadata)
- Show information (venue name, address, date, time, and setlists)
- Practice and performance notes
Usage Data
- Presence data: When you are actively using the App during a session, we track your online status so band members can see who is available.
- Change history: We log changes made to songs, shows, and band settings (including who made the change and when) to provide an audit trail for your band.
- Platform type: We detect whether you are using iOS, Android, or web to provide the appropriate experience.
Audience Data
When audience members access a live session (without creating an account), we collect:
- A randomly generated device identifier stored in the browser (used solely to manage feedback limits per device)
- Feedback messages submitted during a show
- Song requests and votes
App Preferences
- Date and time format preferences
- Theme preference (light or dark)
- Display settings
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the App's functionality
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Sync data in real time between band members during practice and live sessions
- Display online presence to other band members
- Enable audience interaction during live performances
- Generate setlists based on your song library and preferences
- Maintain a change history for your band's records
- Improve and develop new features
3. Data Storage and Security
All data is stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Firebase provides industry-standard security measures including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Encryption at rest
- Secure authentication token management
Passwords are never stored in plain text. Authentication is handled entirely by Firebase Authentication.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
5. Analytics and Tracking
The App does not use analytics services, crash reporting tools, or advertising SDKs. We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.
6. Data Sharing
Your data is shared only in the following ways:
- Within your band: Band members can see shared band data including songs, shows, setlists, and member information.
- Audience access: During a live session, audience members who join with a live code can see the current song, make requests, and submit feedback. They cannot see your full song library or other band data.
- Service providers: Data is processed by Google Firebase as described above.
7. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Band data is retained for as long as the band exists within the App. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Update your profile information at any time through the App
- Delete your account and request removal of your personal data
- Export your data by contacting us
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the App or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
